Aberlady Gala Fun Run
Get your trainers ready — the Aberlady Gala Fun Run is back, refreshed, and better than ever! This year we’re changing things up with a brand‑new 2km woodland route through stunning Gosford Woods, designed to be easy, safe, and fun for all.
The run starts at 18:30 in the field to the left of the trees (by the hole in the wall) at the back of the Calas, before heading along woodland paths, looping round the duck pond, and finishing at the Gosford Bothy car park around 19:45. The route ends at the historic mausoleum — a stunning backdrop for that finish‑line moment.
This year, all primary‑aged children are invited to take part. P1s and P2s must run with a jogging parent/guardian, keeping things safe, supportive, and fun for our youngest runners. The event is open to all primary school children in the village, not only those at Aberlady Primary.
To add an extra bit of Gala Week sparkle, children are welcome to wear a fun item of fancy dress if they fancy it. A silly hat, a bright wig, a superhero cape, a favourite costume accessory, or even a bit of face paint… anything that brings a smile and makes the run feel even more playful. Completely optional, but very welcome!
You can expect:
- A fully staffed course with PVG‑checked volunteers
- A first aider on hand throughout
- Water and a snack waiting at the finish
- A friendly atmosphere for all abilities
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for running on off‑road woodland paths.
To take part, we’ll need:
- Consent for group photos to be shared on the Aberlady Gala Facebook page (no names used)
- Emergency contact details for children and accompanying adults
- Any known allergies
- An event ticket for all participants, including accompanying adults for P1s and P2s
